How we check competition providers
Trust checks live on each provider’s overview. They describe the strength of public evidence, independently of how we rank competition value.
What the rating means
- Strong evidence: at least 80 evidence points, including independently checked draw certification or a current, permitted review source.
- Good evidence: at least 50 points across five signals, with an external corroborating source.
- Some evidence: at least 25 points. More independent checking is needed.
- Limited evidence / Not yet rated: we have too little evidence to say more. This does not mean an operator is untrustworthy.
This is an evidence rating, not a probability that a provider is legitimate. Unknown checks remain unknown. A website’s claims are labelled provider-published; a link to a page is weaker evidence than checked information.
The checks
| Trust signal | Maximum evidence points |
|---|---|
| Operator identity | 15 |
| Winner information | 10 |
| Entry lists | 10 |
| Ticket-pool transparency | 10 |
| Free-entry rules | 10 |
| How winners are selected | 10 |
| Independent draw certification | 15 |
| Government voluntary code | 10 |
| Trustpilot reviews | 10 |
Specific published information earns the indicated points. A linked winner or entry-list page earns half points because its records have not been verified. Unconfirmed certification claims and Trustpilot links alone earn no points. A government-code match is checked against the official operator list; signing is voluntary and is not government approval. A missing name may reflect a different trading or legal name.
Independent reviews and verification
Trustpilot profile links are collected from provider websites. We do not invent star ratings, copy another comparison site’s ratings or count a profile link as a positive review score. Numerical reviews require a current permitted source, with the rating, sample size and check date retained. Certificates and Companies House records must be independently checked before being labelled verified.
Changing prices, deadlines and prizes
Both increases and reductions count as ticket-price changes. Our existing snapshots also flag repeated deadline extensions, ticket-pool increases and listed-prize reductions. A change must persist into a following observation. Scraper corrections can cause apparent changes, so flags are shown for review rather than silently deducting trust points. Discounts are not automatically misconduct. We cannot infer when a winner was actually selected from an advertised closing time.
Useful context
Player controls, adult-entry policies and complaint procedures matter to users. Publishing an 18+ policy does not prove operational age verification. Charity involvement and company age are context, not points: newer operators are not automatically less fair, and a donation does not establish trust. Payment logos alone do not verify payment security.
Review coverage
The initial audit checks a bounded selection of public provider pages. Blocked pages and missing checks stay unverified. Reviews are dated, ratings expire after 30 days, and original evidence links remain visible. This does not establish prize fulfilment, financial solvency or legal compliance. Affiliate relationships never change trust evidence or value rankings.
